Happy May

I hope everyone is doing well and that life is treating you kindly! Life has been messy with a variety of people making things more complicated than they need to be and lacking clear communication. Doing my best to navigate it all, though, and doing what I can to keep a calm, level-minded head. So many people are getting triggered and emotionally volatile; they have quite a few double-standards, too. These are some turbulent times, but we can make it out alright if we can prioritize our peace of mind and well-being, saying no to what isn't good for us and enforcing healthy boundaries. It's hard to believe we're already in May; time feels simultaneously sped up yet slow. What unusual times we find ourselves in.

The boys had a normal week of school, homework, and assignments. They also engaged in a lot of deep discussions about Disney, Sonic the Hedgehog, and upcoming releases. One of the main points of discussion was how big of a flop the new Snow White is (apparently, there's another Chat Music video featuring it) and how jealous Disney is about A Minecraft Movie's success. They were explaining a lot of the references and lore to me before debating whether Minecraft is a fun game or not (apparently, the younger brother believes that it got stale and boring). Then they began discussing other series like The Legend of Zelda. It's always interesting to hear their thoughts and perspectives.

Their mom is nervous about her new job that she starts next week, and the boys' school isn't helping matters--they sent out this update about schedules for this week, and it was not clear communication at all. She was confused and freaking out about it, but, thankfully, I was able to work out what it meant after a lot of sitting with it to process, rereading it, and referencing the regular schedules posted online. Took way longer than I would have liked, but at least it's cleared up now and their mom no longer has to stress over it.

Tsuki had a pretty chill week; all the rain definitely created a sleepy mood, perfect for snuggling and cozy cat naps. She enjoyed curling up on the couch, napping on the blanket chair, hiding away in her cat house, sprawling out on the porch the few times there was sunshine, lounging on the carpet, engaging in her typical antics and shenanigans, birdwatching, snuggling up on my lap, and being her typical adorable and goofy self. Tsuki definitely knows how to make the most of life, recognizing how to take advantage of rest and when to spring into action.

No matter what life throws your way, remember that you matter and that you deserve kindness, peace, respect, love, fun, and safety. Prioritize self-care, your peace of mind, and your well-being because health is wealth. While it's great to have support from others, don't externalize your worth and validation--it will rob you of joy and peace. Happiness and peace of mind are inside jobs, so focus on doing what you can for yourself and remember to replenish your cup because you won't do anyone, whether yourself or others, any good if your cup is empty.

You are not a burden. You are not a waste of space. You are not "the cause of everything that goes wrong." Don't listen to anyone that tries to convince you otherwise. These people are unhappy with themselves and don't want to look at it, so they try to shift blame, point fingers, and project their misery outwards so they don't have to deal with it. You cannot control how other people choose to live their lives, but you do get to control how you choose to show up, so live a life that you enjoy and makes you both proud, happy, and at peace. Take care and have a wonderful rest of your weekend!
